|We begin the Milford Track Adventure on a bus that takes us from Queenstown to Te Anau Downs|
|Day 1 of 5, Tuesday April 18, 2006
Queenstown to Glade House
.8 miles walking
Traversing the heart of New Zealand's wild fiord country, the Milford Track, has long been described as the "finest walk in the world". It will take us four nights, five days. The national park service only issues limited passes, and all hikers hike the same direction, so the remote wilderness experience is very much preserved.
About 50 of the limited passes are issued to Ultimate Hikes, who run guided hikes, which include the guides, lodging, and meals. So you can hike with a small backpack of your personal belongings and they take care of the rest.
