Live Bear Traps

In addition to tranquilizing bears that get too close to town, they also set large live traps, baited with seal meat. They have humane leg traps as well, also baited with seal meat, padded so as not to harm the bear's leg, and for some reason once their legs are stuck, they do not fight or chew, they just lay there until someone comes to get them. Remember this time of year, they have not eaten since around July when the bay ice melted and deposited them back on the shores of Hudson Bay, south-east of here. So they are in a walking hibernation, all slowed down, until the cold and the ice and the seals are back.
